Direct Contact Printing
All Levels

Direct Contact Printing or Eco-Printing is a process of embedding botanical "stamps" directly from plant material. Working with natural elements such as leaves, blossoms, berries, eucalyptus, flower petals, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and bark - artists will create a naturally made silk scarf or cotton bandana. The "images" and color that will be embodied within the fabric will reflect the actual color that the plant material transfers. The class will begin with an introduction to the process followed by a nature walk to collect botanical items for use in printing/dyeing. Using no chemicals or additives the participants will then learn how to use the plant material to decorate their fabric item. No experience necessary. Materials Fee: A materials fee of $15 will cover all supplies.
